We are currently seeking exhibition applications across all galleries for both solo and group shows in 2018!

 

About our galleries

Kingston Arts is home to three contemporary visual arts galleries: G1 + G2 at Kingston Arts Centre in Moorabbin and G3 at Shirley Burke Theatre in Parkdale.

Please note as of 2017, G1 + G2 will no longer be programmed separately; all exhibition applications for Kingston Arts Centre will now be for both spaces.

G1 + G2, Kingston Arts Centre, Moorabbin

The focus for G1 + G2 is to show a diverse program of professionally developed contemporary art exhibitions, including shows developed by Kingston Arts, as well as creating opportunities for curators to develop new exhibitions in partnership with the Visual Arts Coordinator.

  • The Vault (G2) dark projection space for multimedia works (audio-video)
  • Movable plinths
  • Traditional wall hanging is also available in G1+ G2 in consultation with the Visual Arts Coordinator

hire fee

G1 + G2 price - $1,815.00 per approx. 4 week exhibition (incl. gst).

Kingston Arts takes 22% commission on all artworks sold during the course of the exhibition. 

Artists are responsible for all associated costs and organisation of catering and alcohol in consultation with the Visual Arts Coordinator. Kingston Arts will provide staff and volunteers to serve drinks and refreshments at the exhibition opening. Kingston Arts will administer all gallery sales and facilitate payment on behalf of the artist. More info below.

 

g3 Artspace, Parkdale

G3 Artspace is our community access gallery; our primary space for local artists to exhibit solo and small group exhibitions as well as programmed special events.

We also strongly encourage independent applications from emerging, mid-career and established artists for solo or group shows, in addition to community arts groups.

  • Interior or rear-projection screen and sound (Nightscreen Projection Window after hours up until 10pm)
  • Movable plinths

G3 price - $720.00 per approx. 4 week exhibition (incl. gst).

eligibility

Kingston Arts accepts applications from artists at all stages of their career, including community groups. You do not need to live in the City of Kingston to apply.  

Primary and secondary school student artists are encouraged to participate in our annual community arts competition, Artz Blitz.

Evaluation

Selection Criteria:

1. Artistic merit of the work proposed and quality of practice demonstrates conceptual, technical and aesthetic consideration suitable to Kingston Arts’ program

2. Evidence that proposal supports the development of emerging and/or established artistic practitioners to exhibit within the City of Kingston

3. Prior studies in art, design, arts history and/or theory, including TAFE, university or community art classes

Other considerations:

  • Potential of proposed exhibition to engage with the public and support the development of a vibrant, artistic community within the City of Kingston
  • Enthusiasm for and prior engagement with the visual arts  
  • Previous exhibition and art project history
