Ali McGregor's "Something Old, Something New"
SORRY - THIS SHOW IS NOW SOLD OUT
Showing at the Banquet Room in Kingston City Hall
After the success of Jazz Cigarette, Ali McGregor returns to Kingston with her show, Something Old, Something New.
Rarely can such versatility be found in one artist. Having made her mark as a Green Room Award winning principal soprano for Opera Australia, Ali created the Opera Burlesque at The Famous Spiegeltent, before taking her cabaret to the Adelaide and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals.
Her debut album, Jazz Cigarette covers everything from Ella Fitzgerald to Britney Spears with her own unique style.
In this one-off performance Ali will be joined by Sam Keevers, one of Australia’s finest jazz pianists to present a unique take on the ‘American Songbook’ with Kiss and Madonna joining forces with great songwriters like Cole Porter and George Gershwin.
“Cabaret favourite Ali McGregor has the kind of silky smooth singing voice that transports you to a different plane, in a way that makes you forget everything you were doing before walking in to the theatre...” The Scotsman
“Her velvet vocals have the ability to transport the audience to a smoky 1940s jazz bar, blending modern popular hits with the great jazz divas…” The List
“Borrowed and blue, songs old and new turn to cabaret gold with a kiss from Ali. She has a beautiful voice that sends shivers running up and down your spine, lifting the hairs on your arms and the back of your neck, raising goosebumps on your arms and legs.” Adelaide Advertiser
