Apply now for our new artist residency program for teens, Magnify Youth: Teen Artists in Residence.

Kingston Arts has expanded Magnify: Artists in Residence to present a program especially for teens aged 14 – 17 years.  Magnify Youth will run over three afternoons during the September school holidays, facilitated by an artist sharing from their own professional practice.  This is an exciting opportunity to learn new creative skills and get a taste of what it’s like to work in an artist studio - and you might even meet some new friends!

We invite teen artists of all skill levels and life experiences* to apply. What we're looking for are teenage makers who want to create and connect, could this be you?

Please complete and submit your application before Sunday 17 August, 11:59 pm AEST. Successful applicants will be notified from Monday 1 September.  Kingston Arts invites further conversations about any adjustments we can provide to facilitate a positive application process.  Get in touch on visualarts@kingston.vic.gov.au to discuss your application.

*We invite artists of all skill levels and life experiences to apply.  We encourage applications from creatives with diverse lived experiences and/or from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, migrant, refugee and faith communities, people with disability, gender-diverse communities and LGBTIQA+ communities.

Tue 23 Sept – Woodcut footprints: learn the ancient art of woodcut printing and craft a design into a tactile artwork that can be reused over and over again.  Here both the original and the copy become works of art.

Wed 24 Sept – Stencils on tote bags: today the focus is on graphic art and branding. Design and apply your stencil to create a one-of-a-kind tote bag that pops.

Thu 25 Sept – Printmaking and Zine-making (East Asian flavour): combine your newly acquired craft and design skills to make a zine that's all about you.  Youbi the artist will share how she translates and re-inteprets personal cultural elements in and through her artwork.
