In this school holiday workshop, young participants will learn simple sgraffito soft engraving techniques to create their own ceramic ‘selfie’ tiles in raku and porcelain clays, inspired by the individuality of each young artist.
A selection of handmade tiles will then be added to a larger vessel to create a community sculpture and displayed in the Kingston Arts Centre Courtyard.
- Suitable for children aged 6 - 12 years
- Maximum of 8 participants
- No prior knowledge or experience required
- Includes all materials and firing costs
Christine Yeghyaian is a current Kingston Ceramic Studio artist-in-residence with a background in music and abstract art. She is currently undertaking her Honours year in Fine Art (Ceramics) at RMIT. Christina’s practice is informed by the emotive and embodied experience of listening to music and how this can be translated into form using ceramics.
