Join Kingston Arts as we celebrate the joy of singing in an inclusive and supportive environment. Conceived by a creative partnership involving distinguished, Australian singer-songwriter Fred Smith, renowned, local choir-leader Katrina Waters, and Andrew Price, leader of the legendary Men in Suits, Kingston Sea Shanties will unite in song community members from throughout Kingston: from Moorabbin to Carrum and everywhere in between.
Fred Smith will cast his creative gaze over Kingston’s bayside ‘burbs and industrial streetscapes, from its quiet cul-de-sacs to the pulsing artery of the Nepean Highway, to bring us a collection of “urban sea shanties”, which Katrina and Andrew will help us to share and sing.
Come and dip your toe in the water and extend your vocal range at the Kingston Sea Shanties Sign-on & Singing Workshop in May. For those who do decide to take the plunge, rehearsals commence on Wednesdays in June, building towards a major public performance in the Grand Hall at Kingston City Hall on Saturday 7 September.
Arrive at 9.30 for a 10am start and start your own personal journey into song with Kingston Sea Shanties.
Come and give it a try. You won’t be sorry.
