SECURING THE FUTURE OF KINGSTON CITY HALL: KINGSTON CITY HALL MASTERPLAN
Officially opened in 1963 as the Moorabbin Town Hall, the Kingston City Hall was designed as an architectural landmark and reflection of the growth and prosperity of the district.
The venue is owned and operated by Council and remains the City of Kingston’s largest cultural venue. It hosts a variety of performing arts and cultural events, as well as civic functions, school concerts, markets, meetings, business expos and live music.
Council believes this iconic building has great potential and is committed to meeting the community’s future needs for performing arts, events and community meeting spaces.
The design approach of the masterplan has been to achieve transformative change and increase the flexibility of the building, securing the future of Kingston City Hall.
The proposed redevelopment includes improvements to the:
- Grand Hall
- Orchestra pit
- Banquet Hall
The Kingston City Hall Masterplan (44MB) will secure the future of the venue for the next 50 years, meeting the current and future needs of the community.
