A Long and Delightful Association is a three-channel video animation on The Bridge Projection Space by Kingston Arts Grant recipient and visual artist, James Price. The title of the work refers to the friendship between Australian Impressionists, Tom Roberts and Arthur Streeton at Mentone Beach, in which Roberts described their meeting as the beginning of ‘a long and delightful association.’ Through his work, Price pays tribute to the unique and varied histories of Mentone Beach and reflects on its enduring identity as an important community space.
about the artist
James Price is an internationally acclaimed artist and maker based in Melbourne. He uses the term ‘maker’ as its lot easier than listing himself as a video artist, painter, installation artist, animation director, live action director, documentarian, writer and storyteller. His work mixes elements of folk art and contemporary abstraction to help connect the dots between our history, our identity and our inner ‘primal’ self. This project is proudly supported by the City of Kingston Arts Grants.
