Rainbow of Hope by Deb McNaughton

Local artist, Deb McNaughton has been commissioned by Kingston Arts to paint a vibrant mural on the front façade of Shirley Burke Theatre, while the building is temporarily closed to the public due to COVID 19. The bright and joyful artwork pays homage to the Rainbow Trail movement which has inspired thousands of families across Australia to draw rainbows and colourful artworks on their footpaths and driveways, as a sign of unity and connection, in the face of the coronavirus pandemic and social distancing rules.

The Rainbow of Hope mural will be on display until Saturday 11 July

View the times lapse video below.

Deb McNaughton is an Aspendale artist who runs workshops to the public from her studio. Bright colour combinations and fashion inspire Deb’s bold artworks. Using plastic paints that can be safely removed once the Theatre is reopened, Deb painted directly on the glass of the G3 Gallery.

If you do happen to wander past this wonderful work. Pause and take a happy snap. You can share your images with us at @kingstonartsau too.  We are looking forward to seeing your happy faces.
