In conjunction with the night-time festivities on Saturday August 10, we’re hosting a range of family-friendly arts events and extending our gallery opening hours.
Pop into Kingston Arts on the night and you’ll find activities for kids, creative workshops, artist open studios and even a coffee cart selling delicious hot drinks. Better yet – admission to all events is free. See you there!

JOIN IN THE HUNT - Free No Bookings Necessary
Join the award-winning Arena Theatre Company on a fun adventure to find incredible animated creatures. Armed with your smart device and Arena’s free app, you will go on a futuristic treasure hunt in search of animated creatures that are hiding in plain sight around you.
Following your trusty map, you will be able to discover where all the Hidden Creatures live, and learn all of their secrets. Get special rewards as you go. When you’ve found all the creatures, you can see how they were made. Learn how motion-capture technology works, and even have a go yourself!
Workshop - Free BOOKINGS ESSENTIAL
Have you ever wanted to create your own original animated creature, and make it say all the things you want it to? Now you can, in Arena Theatre Company’s Hidden Creature Workshop. Working closely with Arena’s award-winning artists, you will create your own creature, and animate it with your own voice and movement using the latest in motion capture technology.
Hidden Creatures Workshop is a wonderful creative workshop that introduces children to photography, script writing, performance, motion capture and augmented reality – all in a simple and fun workshop where children will be amazed and super proud of what they have created.

Have you ever wanted to peek inside an artists’ studio? Kingston Arts’ four resident artists are throwing open the doors and letting you in on their creative processes. Drop into the studios to meet practising artists, glimpse their works-in-progress and gain insight into their three-month Magnify residency at Kingston Arts Centre.
YOUTH ART EXPO 2024

Don’t miss this showcase of wonderful works from young artists aged 12 to 25. This year’s Youth Art Expo centres on the theme “Big Dreams” and presents artworks from a diverse range of mediums spanning painting, drawing, sculpture and more. The Youth Art Expo is an annual art competition held by Kingston Youth Services and Kingston Arts to support and recognise talented young artists in the community.
COFFEE AND HOT DRINKS
Kingston Arts Precinct Courtyard
Coffee Rider & Co will be selling hot drinks to help you keep warm throughout the night. The team are serving up delicious drinks including coffee, hot chocolate and alcohol-free mulled wine. Sip and linger in the Kingston Arts Precinct Courtyard, which will festooned with decorations just for the occasion.
