Kantha is a simple yet expressive form of quilting from rural India that uses fabric scraps and embroidery to create stunning designs. In this beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll learn the basics of Kantha stitching and create a personalised fabric composition that can be turned into a purse, quilt, or wall art. 

All materials are provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own fabric scraps to incorporate into your design. 

This workshop will cover: 

  • History of Kantha stitching 
  • Basic embroidery stitches and motifs 
  • Layering and composing fabrics 
  • Tips for colour and design 
  • Sewing and completing your Kantha piece
