If The World Was Just

If The World Was Just
A photographic exhibition exploring LGBTIQ+ human rights around the world through a series of portraits of local LGBTIQ+ community members.

Exhibition Statement

'If The World Was Just' is a photographic portraiture exhibition where personal narratives intertwine with the global struggle for LGBTIQ+ rights. Originally developed for Thorne Harbour Health's award-winning 2016/17 annual report, the photography series has been revisited to consider the contemporary consequences of LGBTIQ+ people living in various countries around the world.

About Thorne Harbour Health

Thorne Harbour Health is a LGBTIQ+ community-controlled organisation, governed by members, that provides a range of services which include prevention education, treatment and care of PLHIV and counselling services. They serve the health needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and queer (LGBTIQ+) communities to ensure all gender, sex, and sexually diverse individuals are treated with dignity and can participate fully in society.

About the Artist

For over a decade Virginia Cummins has created powerful distinctive images for a range of Thorne Harbour Health’s initiatives. A powerful supporter of the LGBTIQ+ community as a whole, she has delivered multiple award-winning campaigns and annual reports that are considered benchmarks in the field of communications. Virginia brings a compelling quality to her work. Determined to discover what drives and inspires people, she strives to capture the very spirit of her subject matter.
