In Recycled Rhythms: Persian Patterns Reborn, artist Maryam Ebtekar transforms discarded egg cartons into an intricate installation inspired by the rich geometry and colours of Persian tilework. Hand-shaped and coloured using sustainable methods, each component celebrates imperfection, rhythm, and renewal. Drawing from her cultural heritage and a deep commitment to environmental practice, Ebtekar reimagines waste as a poetic and powerful material.

ABout the artist

Maryam Ebtekar is an Iranian-Australian visual artist and designer based in Melbourne, with over 15 years of experience across painting, sculpture, and contemporary jewellery. Trained in industrial design, she brings a refined understanding of form and function to her art. Since 2020, she has focused on sustainable practices, creating sculptural and wearable works from recycled materials. Her work often draws on Persian visual traditions, transforming them through contemporary, eco-conscious processes. Ebtekar has exhibited locally and internationally, and her recent installations explore themes of cultural memory, transformation, and environmental awareness through tactile, immersive experiences.
