Join us for an unforgettable evening of gut-busting humour, featuring a treasure trove of comedic talent that'll have you laughing 'til your cheeks ache.

Expect big-name comics and rising stars from Australia and around the world – here to light up the Shirley Burke Theatre. You'll recognise these talents from the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala, and from shows such as:

  • Have You Been Paying Attention?
  • Thank God You're Here
  • Spicks and Specks.

Lovingly curated by veteran comedy programmer Janet A McLeod (aka the fairy godmother of Melbourne comedy), Comedy at the Shirley is guaranteed to leave you in hysterics.

Comedians

Bob Franklin

Bob is an award-winning Melbourne based stand-up comic, writer, actor and director, known for his work on Thank God You're Here, The Librarians, Fisk, Bay of Fires and Please Like Me.

Born to kind but daft parents just outside of London, Bob was transported to Wales as a small lad where he developed a taste for writing and performing and an appreciation of the grotesque and absurd. After moving to Australia, he teamed up with Jimeoin, writing and performing sketch comedy (not to mention touring alongside him on a very silly comedy cooking show).

With low-key delivery and measured tones, Bob's A+ writing has maintained his status as the comedian's comedian.

Tor Snyder

Born in Australia but raised in Canada, Tor is a comedic force determined to win the hearts of every Australian she meets. But don't let that adorable Canadian accent fool you, she's filled with a whole lot of sass (and a little bit of crass). But you will absolutely love her for it. Lots of comedic bang for your buck.

Daniel Connell

Afable, loveable and hilarious. Daniel's laid-back persona is the perfect launching pad for his barrage of hilarious gags and stories. One of the most active and prolific performers on the Australian comedy scene, Daniel's dry delivery and observational, often unanticipated comedy has seen him take to stages all over Australia and around the world including Scotland (Edinburgh Fringe), India, Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Sez

Standing five-foot-nothing and armed with a guitar and a hilarious viewpoint, Sez invites audiences into the trenches to explore the world around her. Using a sharp and original mix of musical comedy and unhinged storytelling, Sez will soon charm you with her willingness to plunder her life for laughs. As seen on Just For Laughs Sydney and Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation, we guarantee that you are about to discover your new favourite Gen Z comedian.
