Who was Shirley Burke?

Former Mordialloc City Councillor and Mayor, Shirley Burke made enthusiastic contributions to many local community projects including the Parkdale kindergarten, the beach pavilion and the Parkdale library. The theatre was named in her honour in 1975.

Train
Catch the Frankston line to Parkdale Station.
The theatre is a short, flat 2-minute walk from the station.

Bus
Route 708 stops at Parkdale railway station.

Taxi or ride share
Ride share pickup and drop-offs can be safely completed on Parkers Road, at the front of the venue.

Car
Street parking is available on Parkers Road and Herbert Street.
There is also parking along Como Parade West (along the train line).

Nearby parking lots:

  • Corner of Parkers Road and Como Parade East (opposite the Parkdale Library) with 30 car spaces. A 3-hour parking limit applies during the day, and there is unlimited parking after 6pm
  • A small car park located off Heslop Street in Alameda Place (behind Parkers Café). A 4-hour parking limit applies during the day, and there is unlimited time after 6pm
