Discover Spoken Word: Open Mic Lab
Next date: Tuesday, 30 June 2026 | 10:30 AM
to 12:30 PM
This exciting workshop is all about finding your voice, getting creative, and expressing the different sides of who you are.
Led by Sheena Chundee, a choreographer, performer, and interdisciplinary artist with an international career, this session blends voice, music, and movement in a way that feels fresh, expressive, and totally your own.
Inspired by her current work Fractured Echoes, which explores identity and the pressure of navigating different versions of ourselves in today's digital world, you'll create your own spoken word piece based on the idea of "fracturing" who you are with friends, online, at school, and everything in between.
Through music, interactive prompts, and creative challenges, you'll play with rhythm, flow, tone, silence, repetition, and vocal sounds beyond words, no experience needed. It's a relaxed, supportive space where you can experiment, take risks, and have fun, finishing with an optional open-mic style sharing. Plus, with permission, some of your recorded sound bites could even become part of Fractured Echoes, giving you the chance to be part of a real live performance piece.
Suitable for ages 10-13
