To further support the local creative sector, Kingston Arts is pleased to announce our new Performing Arts Development Program for the performing arts. Whether you're an emerging artist itching to explore a new idea, or a seasoned professional ready to push creative boundaries, our program is designed to support your growth. With tailored assistance to help bring your vision to life, Kingston Arts is committed to fostering creativity and growth within our dynamic arts community.

 

ABOUT KINGSTON ARTS

Just 15 kms from the Melbourne CBD, the City of Kingston boasts a vibrant cultural scene and is home to an engaged arts community. 

Kingston Arts is proud to support the creation of performing and visual arts through grants and presentation opportunities, and offers enriching development and workshop programs which foster the next generation of artists and arts workers. 

 

Eligible activities

  • The creation, development and/or presentation of a new work
  • Project or artform research and development
  • Engagement of specialist practitioners (e.g. directors, dramaturgs, choreographers, etc) to support the development of work
  • Skills development activities, including workshops, classes or mentorships
  • Community engagement activities

 

What we can offer

  • In-kind venue hire of Kingston Arts Centre for up to 20 days
  • Seed funding of up to $5,000
  • Advice and support from the Kingston Arts team
  • Consideration of works for future programming at Kingston Arts

 

Selection Criteria

We may consider the following when assessing your application:


Quality

Does the application:

  • Clearly articulate a vision/artistic rationale and work processes?
  • Demonstrate benefit to artistic practice/enhancement of skills?
  • Display innovation?
  • Articulate the timeliness and relevance of work?
  • Demonstrate a history of high-quality work by the applicant?


Viability

Does the application:

  •  Demonstrate an appropriate level of skills and experience of project participants?
  • Demonstrate realistic and achievable planning and resource use, including appropriate payments to participants?
  • Consider the safety and wellbeing of people involved in the project?


Connection

Does the project:

  • Demonstrate connection with and/or benefit the Kingston community?
  • Strengthen social and cultural connections?
  • Address barriers to participating in or experiencing arts and culture?
  • Reflect the diversity of our community?

 

Key dates and information

  • This is an ongoing program. Applications are open now and will be assessed monthly from November 2024. 
  • Applications must be submitted by the 14th day of each month to be assessed during that month. 
  • A total funding pool of $50,000 will be available for 2025, and applications will close once this allocation is exhausted.
