Comedy at the Shirley: January

Next date: Friday, 30 January 2026 | 07:30 PM to 09:00 PM

A man smiling wears a black jacket and grey shirt.

Join us for an unforgettable evening of gut-busting humour, featuring a treasure trove of comedic talent that'll have you laughing 'til your cheeks ache.

Expect big-name comics and rising stars from Australia and around the world – here to light up the Shirley Burke Theatre. You'll recognise these talents from the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala, and from shows such as:

  • Have You Been Paying Attention?
  • Thank God You're Here
  • Spicks and Specks.

Lovingly curated by veteran comedy programmer Janet A McLeod (aka the fairy godmother of Melbourne comedy), Comedy at the Shirley is guaranteed to leave you in hysterics.

Comedians

Carl Donnelly

Hilariously laid-back Brit with bags of top-notch material. As seen on Russell Howard'sGood News, theMelbourne International Comedy Festival Gala, andMock The Week. Lucky us - Carl has newly moved to Australia, so expect to see more of him on the live comedy circuit.

Janty Blair

It's been all go for Janty (rhymes with Aunty) after winning the Deadly Funny Grand Final in 2022. This very funny, highly appealing comic has performed to sold out crowds at the prestigious Edinburgh Fringe and played the Sydney Opera House with the Aboriginal Comedy Allstars.

Tricksy Collins

Will there be tricks? Quite probably. Tricksy is a multi-talented comedian brimming with additional skills - magic, ventriloquism, mime, standup, and more. Whatever she does, it's guaranteed that Tricksy will raise the roof.

Kirsty Webeck

Winning fans and hearts wherever she goes with an upbeat and relatable brand of comedy. Playful, light-hearted and fun, Kirsty is a gifted storyteller, a south-of-the-river local and the owner of an adorable Pomeranian named Joan and a furious orange cat named Fergie.
