Mosaics for Beginners

Next date: Monday, 28 September 2026 | 06:30 PM to 08:00 PM

Two round coasters made from colourful mosaics with purple border

Mosaic is a great technique for giving a colourful lift to everyday items – plant pots, coasters, table tops – with no project too big or small.

It’s a simple process of cutting ceramics, tiles and glass to size (or repurposing broken crockery), adhering it to a suitable surface, and then once set, apply grout to fill in all the spaces.

This beginners’ class provides all the tools and materials to try out the art and skill of mosaic to create a coaster or wall decor. Next stop, bathroom renovations!

As well as receiving all the materials and instruction within class, there will be a grouting demonstration so that once thoroughly dry, you can finish off your project at home with your take-home grout.

No experience necessary, just come and have a great time!

This workshop will cover:

  • mosaic basics: materials, tools and safety
  • cutting ceramics and glass
  • creating patterns
  • how to grout
  • waterproofing
  • where to source materials/resources/inspiration.
