Traditional Indian mirror embroidery

Next date: Monday, 11 May 2026 | 06:30 PM to 08:00 PM

Colourful hand embroidery with small round mirrors

Learn the basics of mirror work (Sheesha) embroidery from the Kutch region of India. Mirror work was traditionally used to ward off evil spirits and bad luck away from homes and the wearer.

This embroidery is fun, playful and bright!

In this class we will learn various stitches and techniques on cotton fabrics. You will create a sample that can be framed, used as a patch or can become part of a bigger project.

A basic sewing skill can be helpful but not necessary as the stitches are simple and easy to follow.

This workshop will cover:

  • history of Sheesha embroidery
  • different stitchers, motifs and fabrics
  • sewing basics
  • sewing your own piece of Sheesha mirror work.

All materials will be provided.
