The Alchemy of Paint: colour and paint workshop
Next date: Friday, 11 December 2026 | 06:00 PM
to 08:00 PM
Discover the chemistry and magic of colour and pigment with exhibiting artist Naomi Bishop.
Naomi explores the alchemical process, informed by early medieval texts, marginalia and imagery, ciphers of the arcane, and the esoteric in her exhibition Seven Layers of Invisibility. Her paintings become their own form of alchemical magic. During the workshop, she will demonstrate her painting techniques and processes.
Using watercolour, gouache and metallic pigments, participants will be shown painting techniques and will create artworks of their own.
All materials will be provided. Please wear clothing you are comfortable getting paint on.
Who will be teaching?
Naomi Bishop is currently exhibiting work in her solo show Seven Levels of Invisibility at Kingston Arts. Her work is recurringly interested in The Unexplained and The Unexplored.
She is interested in exploring darkness, mysterious events and peripheral otherworldly places. A shared interest in both science and metaphysics searches for a point at which they might converge and reveal secret knowledge from unseen worlds.
