UNDERSCORE brings a mix of live music and author readings to City Hall

Published on 13 April 2026

Two men and a woman sit on wooden steps with the woman sitting in the middle.

Experience a genre-defying musical and literary experience, where writers take to the stage to read excerpts of their work over a lush electro-acoustic soundscape.

The phenomenon first launched in 2023 at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival and Melbourne's Brunswick Ballroom. The unique shows were received by hugely enthusiastic audiences and iterations of the project have since travelled across Australia. Now, it's Moorabbin's turn to see exactly what makes this show special.

UNDERSCORE is coming to Kingston City Hall on Friday 15 May.

See live readings from Maxine Beneba Clarke, Brian Nankervis and Sean O'Beirne underscored by live music from Sally Ford and the Idiomatics.
