Fun creative writing workout
Next date: Monday, 27 July 2026 | 06:30 PM
to 08:00 PM
Want to stop people in their tracks with your words? Make people hear what you say? Influence people with your emails and texts, so they respond with a ‘Yes’?
Then this class is for you. Whether you’re someone who doesn’t write often, or someone who writes a lot, you’ll level-up during this class because it focuses on ways to think about the writing, as well as the words you use. You’ll be a better writer at the end of this class because writing is a skill which improves with practice.
The Fun Writing Workout is a lively class! You’ll write about movies and music, streaming shows and popular culture. Everything you know and love. Why? Because this practical workout for the mind is about ideas and words, not spelling and grammar. It’s not school. The aim is to have a go, feel challenged, and leave feeling confident you can express anything, and yourself, in writing.
During this engaging class, Marilyn will talk about each ‘round’, give examples, discuss what to do, then lead a timed writing exercise. Each ‘round’ has different prompts to choose from, so, simply find one that interests you and hit pen to paper. When the time is up, you’ll have a chance to share your experience with the class if you want to and ask questions.
Some writing materials will be provided, but please bring along your favourite notebook and pen, or maybe a warm drink, if they’ll help you feel more comfortable and inspired.
