Soft Cover Journal Binding.jpg

Your teacher, Cherie, loves paper - she makes it, dyes it, decorates it, collects and repurposes it. In this class Cherie will introduce you to Junk Journals as you collate, decorate and bind your own soft cover journal.

In this workshop, you'll gather a collection of hand-dyed and purposefully distressed pages, giving your journal an old-fashioned, vintage quality. We’ll design the covers using old-fashioned stamps and distressed inks, and add unique vintage elements like stitching, lace, buttons, and trinkets to make your journal truly one-of-a-kind.

Then, we’ll learn how to bind our journals! The finished piece will be sturdy enough to use for a variety of creative purposes, including writing, sketching, and painting.

All materials provided, just come and have a great time. We’ll also have some Halloween-style stamps if you want to give your journal a spooky, gothic touch!

This workshop will cover:

  • An introduction to Junk Journals
  • Instructions on dyeing, distressing and preparing paper
  • Collating your pages
  • Learning to hand bind a soft cover journal
  • Design the journal cover using stamps & embellishments
  • Decorate our journal pages & create vintage ephemera

Who will be teaching?

Cherie has been in love with paper crafting ever since her friend made her some recycled paper stationery for Christmas back in the early 90’s. Since then she have been obsessed and have explored many  paper crafts from Papermaking, Journal & Photo Album Making and currently vintage paper crafts
