The Unexplained and The Unexplored are recurring themes in the work of Naomi Bishop. She is interested in exploring darkness, mysterious events and peripheral otherworldly places. A shared interest in both science and metaphysics searches for a point at which they might converge and reveal secret knowledge from unseen worlds.
Naomi has been exhibiting internationally since graduating with a Masters of Fine Art from Chelsea College in London. Internationally her work has been exhibited at London’s Whitechapel Gallery, The Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin, Fondation Hippocrene and Galerie Nicolas Silin, Paris, Arteles Creative Centre Finland, National University of Taiwan, and CICA Museum, Seoul. In Australia she’s been included in exhibitions at the Bendigo Art Gallery, Counihan Gallery, McClelland, Strange Neighbour, Brunswick Temporary, notfair (2017 and 2021) and Blindside. She has also been a finalist in significant art prizes including the Blake Prize, Paul Guest Drawing Prize, Arthur Guy Memorial Painting Prize, Splash Prize for Contemporary watercolour.
She has received grants from Creative Australia, Creative Victoria, The Menzies Foundation and The Wellcome Trust.
Naomi’s work is represented in the collections of the Whitechapel Gallery London, La Banque Postale Paris, City of Maroondah, Melbourne and CICA Museum Korea and in private collections in Australia, NZ, Asia and Europe.
